Latest on Stewart Downing, Tyrone Mings, Marc Pugh and Antoine Semenyo
Boro Transfer List Downing
Middlesbrough have surprisingly transfer-listed midfielder Stewart Downing. In a bizarre turn of events, the Teesside club have decided to sell. If Downing were to play another minute for Boro, he would be due a pay rise.
Former Liverpool and Aston Villa winger, who began his career at Boro, now has to find a new club. Manager Tony Pulis is believed to want to move Downing on. Pulis has already signed a player for Downing’s position, Huddersfield Town’s Rajiv Van La Parra on loan.
Midlands Rivals Chase Mings
Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa are both chasing Tyrone Mings. Bournemouth are willing to let their £8 million signing leave on loan. However, only if they complete the signing of Brentford defender Chris Mepham.
Mings has made just 19 appearances since his move from Ipswich in 2015. The defender who can play at both left-back and centre-back could prove to be a good signing for either promotion hopefuls. However, according to reports, Albion fans would rather they concentrated on signing a replacement for Harvey Barnes.
Hull Close in on Pugh
Another Bournemouth player could also be set for a move to the Championship. Hull City are reportedly in advance talks to bring Marc Pugh in on loan. Pugh was a bargain buy for the Cherries back in 2010 and has gone on to make 312 appearances.
Experienced winger Pugh has only made cup appearances this season and is free to leave on loan. Hull are currently on an excellent run of form in the Championship and are chasing a play-off place. A proven player like Pugh would be a welcome addition to the Hull side as they hope to keep their current run going.
United and Chelsea want City Wonderkid
Manchester United and Chelsea could be about to battle it out for Antoine Semenyo.
The Bristol City wonderkid has been watched by the Premier League giants. The City teenager is currently on loan at Newport County where he is impressing. The 19-year-old winger has scored six goals so far this season.
Semenyo’s contract with Bristol City expires at the end of this season. The Championship club would like to keep hold of the talented youngster but may have to sell now rather than lose him for nothing. City would want around £2 million for Semenyo. United and Chelsea, although to yet make a bid, could do so before the end of the month.
