Police arrested Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi early on Sunday morning on suspicion of rape. What started merely as rumours and speculation has now turned into a serious allegation.

Callum Hudson-Odoi Arrested

Incident and Allegations

The Sun was one of the first to report the incident early Sunday, saying: “It is believed the 19-year-old made contact with the woman on social media on Saturday before inviting her to his penthouse. [He] and the model are said to have exchanged flirty messages that hinted at having ‘fun’ together. The woman showed him a selection of photographs of herself in raunchy outfits.

“[Hudson-Odoi] is thought to have sent a car to collect her for a trip across the capital to his West London home. But a woman later called for an ambulance and the police.”

According to a witness: “The place has been crawling with police. A spa area on the roof has been taped off but I’ve no idea if that’s the same incident.”

Another neighbour added: “There have been a few gatherings happening but we didn’t know quite who was responsible. There are a couple of footballers in the building — but in the early hours of last night it all kicked off and the police were called.”

In response to the call early Sunday, paramedics and police arrived at the scene and arrested Hudson-Odoi. The accuser complained to the police of feeling unwell and then went to the hospital.

Five officers returned to the scene around 2.30 pm on Sunday to do another search and interview staff and witnesses.

Police Statement

ESPN, along with many other outlets, have confirmed Hudson-Odois arrest. A police spokesman said Metropolitan Police officers and an ambulance were called to Hudson-Odoi’s apartment in Battersea, West London.

“When emergency services attended, a woman reported that she was raped. She was taken to hospital,” the spokesman continued. “A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of rape. He was released from custody and bailed to return on a date in mid-June.”

Still Too Little Information

In the coming weeks, more information regarding the incident will likely come out. As of now, breaking quarantine rules is the least of his problems.

Chelsea have declined to comment on the situation.
